Eco Club is a pupil based group working to make a more sustainable Bushloe High School. This year (2007 to 2008) we are having weekly meetings to push our various projects forward and make sure that all pupils who want to be involved are involved. In addition the Action Team will also have more formal meetings. The Action Team steer the work of Eco Club and because it is now made up of pupils who are part of the school council it links with other parts of the schools work.
So far this year we have: Set up a paper recycling scheme, started composting, set up a bird feeder, planted trees, shrubs and bulbs in our school grounds. We have also created our own allotment and hope that soon we will be able to plant out the pond with native species.
Our (near) future plans include: Expanding our recycling schemes and looking at energy use throughout our building.
Why not join us on our quest to make our school a more sustainable place and check out our progress regularly on this blog.
